Position Overview:
Due to continued growth and project wins we are looking for a Process Engineer to join our Engineering team in Adelaide.
Reporting to the process team lead within the Water, Environment and Industrial Group, you will be responsible for process engineering activities on projects typically involving wastewater treatment, potable water treatment, chemical dosing, odour control, venting, flaring, pumping and piping, pipelines, compression and similar. The role will work closely with other mechanical, structural, hydraulic, civil and electrical engineers in delivery of projects and proposals for a range of clients.
Key responsibilities include:
+ Develop process engineering design and analysis for projects across water, defence and energy sectors.
+ Develop and implement process simulations and models to optimize plant performance and efficiency.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are met within specified timelines and budgets.
+ Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for proposed projects.
+ Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and project teams.
+ Ensure compliance with relevant Australian standards and regulations.
+ Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimization.
Skills & Experience Required:
+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
+ Proven experience in process engineering within water/defence projects.
+ Knowledge of Australian standards and regulations pertaining to process engineering.
+ Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Biowin, Aspen HYSYS, PHAST, etc.) is highly regarded.
+ Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
+ Current Baseline Clearance or the ability to obtain Defence clearance required.

About the Role:
You will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and implementing process solutions that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for gold or copper processing plants.

  • Familiarity with sustainability practices and process decarbonization.

**A day in the life.**
Reporting to the Production Manager and being responsible for driving strategic productivity and capacity solutions, other key responsibilities will include:
+ Identify opportunities to improve the productivity of existing systems using different Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) tools and techniques, such as DMAIC, GSTD, SMED and VSM.
+ Responsible to champion the Focused Improvement (FI) pillar for TPM.
+ Develop and maintain system capacity and conduct capability studies to ensure optimal production rates, parameters and formulas.
+ Improve system reliability (in conjunction with Maintenance) and product quality (in conjunction with Quality Engineer) and identify productivity improvements including new technologies.
+ Serve as R&D liaison for testing, monitoring and evaluating new equipment and new products.

Role Details

Reporting to the Senior Process Engineer and working closely with the production team, the Process Engineer (Chemicals) will be responsible for the maximization of production quality, uptime, and speed through chemical engineering processes. Your key objectives for this role will be to ensure a high-quality paper product and minimise chemical downtime in our paper mill, located in Smithfield, VIC.

What you'll do

  • Uphold Visy safety standards at all times, ensuring compliance with procedures and identifying and addressing hazards to ensure safe mill operations
  • Daily monitoring and management of chemicals and chemical levels, including inventory of consumables and equipment in the mill
  • Manage chemical budgets and related KPIs, including raising purchase orders when required
  • Troubleshoot chemical dosing systems and arrange resources for maintenance
  • Providing technical assistance and optimising dosing systems to achieve performance and efficiency
  • Conduct regular and random testing of paper to meet quality requirements, stay up to date with the latest chemical data, and update the SDS
  • Work closely with production, sourcing chemicals, and providing support during regular maintenance and major shutdowns, including when rostered on-call
  • Manage relationships with chemical suppliers to understand the chemicals used and chemical dosing systems
  • Ensure compliance with safe chemical usage, storage, and handling as per applicable standards (including Australian standards and site standards)

Following significant contract awards in our Australia/New Zealand Water business line, AECOM's Water Infrastructure team is searching for a proven Process Engineer to join our global team of water process engineering specialists.
We're seeking someone with a passion for technical excellence and who is looking to further develop their experience in delivering multi-disciplinary projects in a global organisation. The Water Infrastructure group provides services to a range of internal and external clients with a key focus on supporting sustainable outcomes for our clients and the communities they serve.

+ As an experienced engineer, you will play a key role delivering process engineering services as part of our integrated water infrastructure team across Australia and New Zealand.
+ As a key member of our team, you will support the growth of our water and wastewater treatment business through delivering great work.
+ You will work with the team to deliver a range of significant national and international projects, covering the full project lifecycle from planning and investigations, concept design, detailed design and post-project completion support.
+ You will have opportunities to be mentored by leaders and industry experts in our business and will in turn mentor and develop emerging engineers to shape our future professionals.

By joining our team, you'll be immersed in a strong, long-term pipeline of work, handling complex, large-scale and iconic projects across ANZ.
