About the role


This is a full-time (35 hours/week) 6-month contract opportunity based in Dubbo, with some flexible working arrangements.

We are seeking a dedicated and confident leader to join our Permanency Support Program as Coordinator. This role is responsible for leading and supervising a team of Caseworkers and support staff, ensuring safe, high-quality, and culturally responsive services for children, young people, and families.



A key focus of this role is coaching and mentoring staff around risk and safety, strengthening decision-making, and ensuring compliance with PSP policy and procedures. You will provide direct supervision and oversight of outcomes for caseworkers, attend home visits, lead team meetings, and represent Uniting at inter-agency forums — working in close collaboration with the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ).



In this role you will ensure the PSP Caseworker team is delivering a contemporary, permanency and restoration-focused Practice Framework that is trauma-informed, culturally competent, and responsive to the individual needs of children and young people.



About you



  • Tertiary qualification in a community service field.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with a proven ability to supervise, coach, and mentor casework teams.
  • Strong expertise in risk and safety assessment in the child protection context, with sound knowledge of PSP legislation, frameworks, and compliance requirements.

  • Appropriate First Nations cultural knowledge and understanding is important to deliver effectively in this role


  • Skilled in decision-making for children’s best interests, with a commitment to hearing the voices of children and young people.
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and inter-agency collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, monitor outcomes, and ensure accountability in service delivery.
  • Knowledge and understanding of sector trends and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Role Overview:


Your Duties will include but are not limited to:


  • Assist with the assessment of consumers and the development of individual recovery plans based on individual recovery goals.
  • Assist in the delivery of individual assistance for consumers with a mental illness.
  • Assist with the monitoring and review of consumer recovery plans, in partnership with carers/family members/clinicians/ community organisations.
  • Complete risk assessments and safety planning activities.

Essential Criteria:


  • Minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health or related field.
  • Experience working with consumers with severe and persistent mental illness. - Understanding of the Principles of Recovery Orientated Mental Health Practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop individual support plans with consumers.
  • A Current full driver’s license.
  • Ability to provide individualized psychosocial support to people living with severe and persistent mental illness
  • Thorough documentation skills - assessment reports, progress notes, reporting

**Role Description:** This position will provide support to the SCIFiRE/AIR6007 Project Support Level 3 equivalent and work under limited direction to achieve moderately complex tasks within an integrated workforce.

- To make timely and effective capability decisions, the Air Combat Program (ACP) requires development of high-quality documentation to capture key information in the Capability Life Cycle (CLC). Specifically, the ability to support drafting high-quality documents for Government submissions is essential.
- Within the ACP, provide sub-program support to the multi-disciplined project teams and coordinate project activities, including coordination, management and delivery of project tasks and milestones.
- Coordination for the ACP sub-program management of schedules, risk, budgets, preparation of briefings, submissions, reports and returns relating to sub-program progress and issues in accordance with organisational requirements.
- Advise and clearly articulate goals to achieve sub-program and project objectives.
- Work collaboratively, build and sustain effective relationships. Actively manage working relationships to understand stakeholder requirements and expectations to minimise risk to scope, schedule and budget.
- Support the project teams with the integration and engagement of the program and project governance framework, ensuring consistency and transparency in reporting tools and optimum use of functionality.
- Identify, interpret and apply relevant legislation, policies, strategies, business and team requirements.

- Provide Air domain advice for briefs and submissions, including through to CAF and USAF.
