About the RoleWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Support Officer to join our team in Canberra. In this role, you will provide essential support to the Project Manager, Project Executive, and wider project team to ensure effective delivery of project outcomes. You will play a key part in coordinating documentation, correspondence, and reporting, while supporting the smooth operation of project governance and stakeholder engagement activities.
Key Responsibilities
+ Provide support to the Project Executive and project leadership team.
+ Contribute to project reporting processes and ensure accurate, timely updates.
+ Prepare and draft correspondence, briefs, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
+ Support the preparation, maintenance, and management of project documentation.
+ Maintain data and records within the Objective File Management System.
+ Organise, participate in, and record outcomes of project meetings, including Integrated Project Working Groups, stakeholder meetings, and risk meetings.
+ Manage project correspondence including register updates and mailbox coordination.
+ Work collaboratively with team members, Defence stakeholders, and contractors to build effective relationships.
+ Undertake training, workshops, and additional project tasks as directed.

+ High competence in using Microsoft Office applications.
+ Strong communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality written documentation.

Essential Requirements
+ Experience contributing to successful project outcomes within complex environments.
+ Proven ability to build trusted relationships with team members, customers, and partners.
+ Experience in preparing briefs, complex correspondence, and reports including committee submissions.
+ Must hold a current Australian Government Security Clearance at NV1 level or higher.
Desirable
+ Recognised project management qualification (e.g. AIPM).
+ Knowledge of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), Defence project management methodology (PMMv2), or equivalent frameworks.
All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply.

As a Project Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting project delivery teams by providing governance, reporting, planning and coordination services. Working within Defence's Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), you will contribute to the successful execution of complex acquisition and sustainment projects that are vital to the Army's future warfighting capability.

Additionally, proficiency with Objective is essential, as you will be required to manage and maintain documentation and records in compliance with Defence document control protocols.
Defence experience is a must, and your understanding of Defence environments, procedures, and stakeholder expectations will ensure your success in this role. You'll be instrumental in supporting compliance, tracking project progress, and ensuring smooth communication flows across teams and partners.
