The Opportunity:
We are growing our Land Systems Division in Melbourne and have a new opportunity for an experienced Project Support Officer (PSO) to join our team in the Land Vehicle Systems Branch (LVSB).
This is a unique chance to work at the heart of Defence's protected mobility and land vehicle programs, supporting the sustainment and modernisation of platforms such as the Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicle, Hawkei, medium/heavy trucks, trailers, recovery and engineering support vehicles.
As a Project Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting project delivery teams by providing governance, reporting, planning and coordination services. Working within Defence's Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), you will contribute to the successful execution of complex acquisition and sustainment projects that are vital to the Army's future warfighting capability.
Responsibilities:
+ Assisting with project planning, scheduling, and monitoring of activities across multiple work streams.
+ Preparing and maintaining project documentation, registers, minutes, briefs and governance packs.
+ Supporting risk, issue and change management processes.
+ Assisting with procurement and contract management activities, including tracking deliverables and vendor performance.
+ Compiling project status reports and assisting in schedule/cost analysis to inform decision making.
+ Supporting stakeholder engagement across Defence, industry partners, and internal project teams.
+ Providing day-to-day coordination support to project managers and engineering leads.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
+ Tertiary qualifications in project management, business, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
+ Minimum 2 years' experience in project support, coordination, or project management services (Defence or large-scale engineering projects desirable).
+ Strong skills in planning, organisation, and document/report preparation.
+ Familiarity with project management frameworks (e.g. MSP, PRINCE2, PMBOK, or Defence project processes).
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; exposure to project scheduling software (e.g. MS Project, Primavera) highly regarded.
+ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
+ Current NV1 Defence Security Clearance (mandatory).
All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply.
