Assistant Procurement Officer

Location – Parramatta

Employment type – Ongoing opportunity

Salary – GR 5/6 Salary $99,938 - $110,271 plus superannuation

Your role

Homes NSW leads work to deliver more social and affordable housing, end the cycle of homelessness, and deliver quality public housing to our 262,000 tenants across NSW.

As a single division, we are streamlining services to ensure we meet the needs of the people we support, with empathy, efficiency and effectiveness. We are elevating the voice of people with lived experience of social housing, housing services and homelessness.

Homes NSW operates a centralised procurement model. The Assistant Procurement Officer’s priority is to provide support to the Homes NSW Procurement team and maintain procurement and contract records in the contract register. The Assistant Procurement Officer will learn government procurement processes and be trained to undertake low risk procurements.

What you’ll do

You will enjoy working in a high-volume and fast-paced environment working alongside the Principal and Senior Officers to support the delivery of social housing projects. This is a great opportunity to learn fundamental and advanced skills and knowledge in the areas of finance, contracting and commercial requirements of procurement.

The role will suit someone with experience and/or understanding in Government procurement systems, or from a similar environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a cohesive and high performing team who is supportive of each other in achieving objectives and delivering outcomes.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide timely support to the Homes NSW Procurement team in procurement tasks.
  • Manage the activities relating to various procurement systems used by Homes NSW including buy.nsw tenders and the procurement contract register.
  • Maintain knowledge of procurement process, systems and applications through learning, networking and research to effectively support business requirements.
  • Practise procurement knowledge by managing low risk procurements where required.

What we’re looking for

  • Understanding of the NSW Government Procurement Policy and associated requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in records management using CM9 or equivalent systems.
  • Previous experience in administration and customer service environment, preferably supporting construction professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience in improving productivity and efficiency.
