Our energy team is growing! We are seeking to speak with Electrical Engineers with Renewable Energy experience, for a position in our Melbourne Team. As part of our high performing Energy team, you will be actively involved in a highly motivated and innovative team of energy professionals. The team is currently delivering a range of projects including owner's engineer, grid connection and project management roles as well as front-end work such as site identification and evaluation, feasibility studies, concept design and grid connection studies associated with future generation and storage projects.
**What will a day in this role look like:**
+ Be responsible for the design and development of electrical systems for renewable facilities including wind, solar and battery storage facilities, amongst other emerging technologies.
+ Use your project management experience to oversee projects whilst reviewing and signing off on concept designs for power generation facilities on projects across Victoria.
+ Act as technical leaders for the development of specifications whilst working with Senior Leadership Team with key clients and stakeholders.
+ Act as a part of Owner's Engineer team on projects to ensure the project is delivered according to the clients' requirements. Provide technical advice and use your project management experience to advise on project timelines, schedule, budget, contractor management and risk management.

**What are we looking for from you?**
+ Ideally, candidates will have 3 + years' experience as an Electrical Engineer in the renewable energy sector, either owner/client side, or working for a consultancy (preferred) with a track record of project management experience.
+ Electrical Engineering degree with relevant experience, knowledge of Australian standards and projects. RPEV (or ability to obtain) is important given the nature of this role.
+ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to liaise with clients, contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
+ Proven knowledge of the major power generation technologies and the major equipment OEM's and plant suppliers.
+ Ideally, candidates will have exposure to HOMER and PVsyst. Experience with windPRO is advantageous, but not essential.

**About the role**
Our Perth team are looking for a Renewable Energy Engineer/Consultant with expertise and interest in the Renewable Energy/Sustainability sector, to join us on a permanent basis.
The role will be within our Energy Team, reporting to our Energy Team Leader. The team is part of a national offering and is targeting landmark Energy Transition projects nationwide. This role is suited to someone who wants to be part of the Energy Transition in delivering commercial and utility scale renewables projects. It is ideally suited to a candidate who has at least 4 years' experience working on a range of renewables, buildings energy, and energy market related projects.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Lead the electrical design of renewable energy projects, including solar PV, wind, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
+ Develop detailed designs for high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) systems, including protection schemes, switchgear, and transformer specifications.
+ Prepare and review single line diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings.
+ Carry out system modelling, load flow studies, fault level analysis, and protection coordination.
+ Perform detailed modelling and assessment of solar PV, battery storage, and microgrid systems.
+ Have a strong understanding of financial and economic analysis (NPV, IRR, LCOE) to support investment decisions.
+ Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams from concept to commissioning.
+ Liaise with DNSPs, regulators, and internal stakeholders for grid compliance and approvals.
+ Manage project timelines, budgets, risks, and stakeholder expectations.
+ Prepare and present detailed technical and commercial reports to clients and stakeholders.
+ Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior engineers within the team.
+ Engage with clients, stakeholders, and DNSPs to present and explain design solutions.
**Competencies and familiarities:**
+ Competent with relevant Australian Standards such as AS/NZS 3000, 4777 and 5033.
+ Competent with the supply authority application process for inverter-based energy systems, and the various Australian DNSPs' Technical Rules.
+ Familiar with project siting constraints, such as environmental, social, and governance considerations for developments.
+ Familiar with grid connection constraints, such as system strength, inertia, and power systems engineering studies to demonstrate steady-state / dynamic / transient stability for advanced inverter systems.
+ High-voltage distribution and substation design experience are desirable.
**To be successful for this role you'll need:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical, Renewable Energy, Science or similar
+ Proven experience in energy project feasibility and delivery (solar/BESS/microgrids).
+ Proficiency with relevant software (e.g., PVSyst, HOMER, ETAP, Excel, MS Project).
+ Strong commercial acumen with ability to evaluate and justify project viability.
+ Have commercial solar/battery/energy storage/renewables (DER) experience
+ Interact and engage with our clients as a professional consultant, providing an appropriate level of service.
+ Use written professional communication to deliver our project requirements such as email, reports, technical drawings, memos and specifications.
+ Apply technical skills and commitment in a way which ensures projects are thoroughly considered, personally reviewed, and delivered on time.
+ Be accurate, diligent and professional.
+ Ability to lead or work collaboratively in dynamic project environments.

We're looking for a skilled **Power Systems Engineer** to join GE Renewable Energy's Hybrids team. In this role, you'll help shape the future of clean energy by supporting the development, analysis, and integration of **renewable generation** , **battery energy storage systems (BESS)** , and **power electronics** into modern power grids.
This position combines deep technical expertise with practical application in real-world projects-from concept through commissioning-ensuring high-quality, standards-compliant solutions that meet evolving customer and grid requirements.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Design and analyse **control systems** for renewable energy and storage systems using advanced modelling tools like **PSCAD, PSS/E, PSLF, PowerFactory** .
+ Tune control systems to meet grid code requirements and performance targets.
+ Develop a deep technical understanding of GE Hybrid products and their integration into utility grids.
+ Provide **engineering support** for equipment design, specifications, system studies, commissioning, and failure analysis.
+ Lead and contribute to **new product development** , keeping pace with evolving industry standards and grid codes.
+ Represent GE Vernova in industry forums and standards bodies to support product compliance and innovation.

**Required Qualifications**

**Preferred Skills & Experience**
+ Expertise in **power systems modeling** and simulation, especially with **inverter-based resources (IBRs)** and power electronics.
+ Hands-on experience developing and tuning models in **PSCAD** , **PSS/E** , **PowerFactory** , or similar platforms.
+ Familiarity with **grid code compliance** , system integration, and performance optimization.
+ Knowledge of **hardware-in-the-loop (HIL)** testing and real-time control validation.
+ Strong programming background in **Python** , **MATLAB** , or **Fortran** for simulation and model customization.
+ Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external clients.
+ Publication record (IEEE/CIGRE) and/or participation in standards groups is a plus.
+ Patents or innovation in high-voltage equipment design are a bonus.
