br>Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support: Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management, and mobility, as needed.
- Foster a positive and safe environment: Ensure the residential setting is clean, organized, and secure, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Support personal development: Encourage and assist residents in developing life skills, engaging in educational activities, and participating in recreational pursuits.
- Promote well-being: Monitor residents' physical and emotional health, identifying and reporting any concerns to the appropriate channels.
- Develop and implement care plans: Work collaboratively with residents, their families, and other professionals to create and follow individualized care plans.
- Manage challenging behaviors: Utilize de-escalation techniques and positive behavior support strategies to manage and resolve challenging behaviors effectively and safely.
- Maintain accurate records: Document observations, incidents, and progress of residents in line with organizational policies and procedures.
- Facilitate communication: Liaise effectively with residents, their families, external agencies, and internal staff to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
- Participate in training and development: Continuously enhance professional skills and knowledge through training programs and supervision.
- Adhere to policies and procedures: Ensure full compliance with all organizational policies, procedures, and relevant legislation, including safeguarding and data protection.
Qualifications and other requirements expected from a Residential Care Officer:
1. Certificate III Individual Supports or IV in Disability, Individual Support, Community Services, or equivalent qualifications will be highly regarded
2. A recent minimum of one year of relevant experience working similar role within the disability or aged care sector as a support worker.
3. Experience working with people living with Mental Health disorders is highly regarded
4. A valid driver's license with your reliable vehicle.
5. Ability to work independently and without supervision.
6. Current First Aid and CPR certification
7. NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
8. Current Police Check
9. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
10. Understanding of duty of care and person-centred approaches

About the role
This is a rewarding, full-time permanent position as part of the Customer Quality Assurance team in Senior Services as a Residential Aged Care Specialist. In this role, you'll be a critical member of the Uniting team, supporting strategic support to Residential services where you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring services provide robust quality assurance systems and frameworks that meet not only regulatory standards but also uphold excellence, spearhead continuous improvement and ensure quality outcomes for older Australians. This role will collaborate closely with the Operations Support and Service Delivery teams and internal stakeholders across various domains.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Support the establishment and embedding of quality frameworks, including monitoring and data analysis.
- Stay updated on relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices related to the area of specialisation.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and facilitate communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
- Monitor audits accreditation and compliance performance across all operations, to ensure that services and processes comply with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented changes and adjust strategies as needed.
- Lead effective reviews of programs, processes, and systems to implement improvement initiatives aligned with best practices and the Senior Services Operating Model principles.
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience
- Sound working knowledge of Residential Aged Care
- Substantial experience in quality assurance, audit processes and compliance
- Maintain current knowledge of evolving changes and trends within the aged care industry
- Foster strong partnerships with essential stakeholders.
