**Description**
**Your Role:**
As a Systems Safety Manager, this dynamic opportunity will have you mentor staff as well as assisting with establishing the standardisation of process and analysis methods. The role will also involve effective engagement with the broader NGA Engineering & Technical Services community, as well building relationships with the customer organisations.

+ Active participation in improvement activity development and implementation.
+ Developing and maintaining the In-service Materiel Safety Program Plan, enabling Work Instructions, Templates and Knowledge base.
+ Developing and maintaining a communication plan, agreed with relevant stakeholders, detailing the People and information necessary to achieve success for enterprise Safety Management System.
+ Providing technical leadership to the System Safety Team.
**About You:**
+ Bachelor of Engineering (Aeronautical/Aerospace) or Engineers Australia recognised equivalent.
+ Ability to obtain Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or equivalent state-based engineering registration.
+ Ability to obtain Chartered Professional Engineering status through Engineers Australia.
+ Capable of attaining or currently hold an NV-1 Australian Defence Security Clearance.
+ Demonstrated experience as a Professional Engineer within the aviation industry.
+ Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
+ Demonstrated performance, people leadership and customer interface skills/experience.
+ Knowledge of configuration management, airworthiness regulation, and certification concepts utilised by ADF and/or civil operators.

# Job Summary:
In this role, you will conduct field investigations and special studies for process safety design for large projects. You will lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of components and processes used in process safety for projects with unique requirements. Your coordination will ensure that complex technical issues are resolved, clients are satisfied, and project needs are met.
# Major Responsibilities:
+ Evaluates, selects, and applies standard Process Safety engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria for project in support of a global business unitor staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications
+ Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates components and processes used in process safety utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
+ Prepares hazardous area classification. Prepares fire escape route and safety sign layouts
+ Participates in reviews of studies performed by third party contractors in support of the safety case report for a major hazard facility
+ Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Process Safety requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution
+ Mentors and assists more junior Process Safety team members
+ Completes Process Safety documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance
+ Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability
# Education and Experience Requirements:
+ Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

The Opportunity
To support our existing portfolio of national projects, we are looking for a Senior Fire Safety Engineer to join our Infrastructure Buildings and Defence team.
In this position you will be responsible for assisting and developing fire safety engineering design solutions across buildings, defence, and transport infra projects. You will lead projects and work directly with major clients. This role will have the opportunity to grow our presence in the NSW and lead projects from a fire safety perspective across NSW and QLD.
Who are you?
As a function of the work that we do, it is a key requirement that you are an Australian citizen and either hold or are eligible for, security clearance with the Australian Defence.
The key technical expectations for this role include:
+ Working knowledge of the BCA and fire safety engineering processes in Australia.
+ Demonstrated ability to analyse and manage design work and engineering tasks

The Systems Safety Engineer will provide support associated with the System Safety Program and the efficient identification and management of Safety Case issues.
The Systems Safety Engineer will use their specialised knowledge to solve complex and unique problems, and direct daily activities of a business, technical support, or functional support within project controls.

Responsibilities:
+ Provide assistance in shaping the System Safety Program for the projects within the business area.

This role is for an experienced EHS Manager, Safety Specialist or Safety Engineer. The role's prime responsibility will be to work as part of a team to support the safety operations in Melbourne, Australia. As well as this, there may be opportunities to support other states or countries.
The chosen person must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise and consistent messages verbally, in written form, and/or public speaking forums. Coordination with onsite physical security, vendors, compliance officers, risk management, and fire/life safety systems is required. This role will report to the Regional Safety Manager, Australia & New Zealand, and be responsible for continuing to enhance the safety of operations and construction. This position is based in Melbourne, some international travel may be required.

- Collaborate with other groups within Amazon (Facilities Managers, Human Resources, Operations) and outside vendors (General Contractors, sub-contractors, Emergency Services) as they relate to operations and construction.
