We're looking for a talented Senior Safety Specialist to join our team. You'll be passionate about partnering with the Middle mile team to ensure WHS risks are managed. We will expect you to continue to drive our Amazon WHS culture with the site leaders, raise high standards with contractors, and be instrumental in embedding Amazon WHS policies and processes and ensure compliance to all applicable local legislative obligations. By leveraging lean principles, you will lead continuous improvement to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for our Associates.
A successful Senior Safety specialist will demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and inspire change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.
This senior safety specialist must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. You will instruct and train Operations Leaders in Amazon WHS policies and assist the operations site teams in incorporating our safety standards at their site. You will work to identify best practices and incorporate these standard methodologies into our standards to continuously improve the occupational health and safety landscape.
You will possess excellent safety program knowledge and be able demonstrate this expertise when working with Operations.
You will comfortable in working within a global company, and able to leverage from different parts of the world to support you in be successful in your role.
Key job responsibilities
- Partner with Engineering WHS on CRM to provide updates on CRM advancement
- Partner with Ops Leaders to improve day-to-day safety.
- Manage 3PL at a country level with the support of the dedicated person in Projects team.
- Providing advice and guidance on health & safety matters to all stakeholders within designated area of responsibility.
- Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable Amazon WHS Policies and Global Standards. Develop country level WHS procedures and processes to meet Amazon Global Standards
- Completion of risk assessments related to WHS hazards for contractors operations
- Measure sites' performance against published requirements in safety policies. For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.
- Analyze safety metrics and review incident weekly and monthly incident trends to discover trends to rationalize the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the WHS risk is highest.
- Perform frequent site WHS audits to identify all non-compliance equipment and/or processes at the site. Implement solutions.
- Audit record-keeping practices and Global Safety Database (Austin) entries to be aligned with global safety standards and local regulations.
- Ensure site leadership and Associates are trained and knowledgeable of their WHS responsibilities under each policy.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in WHS or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications and the use of pivot tables and the development of charts and graphics
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Distribution Centre or Manufacturing EHS with mix of exempt and non-exempt employees
- Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment

About the Role

The Safety Investigations team provides fast and empathetic support to customers during critical moments. We help impacted users by investigating urgent incidents, enforcing safety standards, and taking decisive action to secure accounts, as well as reporting accurate data and insights to improve safety for all of Uber's customers.

Your Impact In Role

  1. Lead, coach, mentor, and motivate a team navigating sensitive cases in a fast-paced environment to deliver on operational key performance indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLA)

  2. Employ critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and creative problem-solving skills to help employees navigate sensitive cases and high-severity safety concerns

  3. Lead internal operational work streams, including analytics and reporting, quality assurance, training and development, and administration, as part of the central operations team of the Sydney Centre of Excellence

  4. Provide oversight for escalated requests across our safety lines of business, challenging yourself and your team to solve the most complicated and interesting problems our users face

  5. Coordinate closely with global Community Operations teams, and local stakeholders to drive handling excellence and act as a local point of contact and subject matter expert 

  6. Be accountable for the continuous improvement of safety processes and policies, leveraging customer and team insights to drive positive and meaningful change

The Experience You'll Bring

  1. People management or leadership experience, including developed skills in dispute resolution, training & development, and reporting

  2. Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced customer-facing role. Safety support experience preferred, but not essential 

  3. Strong communication skills, including the ability to listen effectively; to confidently and diplomatically express opinions, and voice concerns with other team members; and to present effective written communication to varied audiences

  4. Strong stakeholder management skillset, with an ability to establish productive working relationships with immediate team and senior business stakeholders through trust and reliability

# Project Overview:
Pluto Train 2 is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility near Karratha in Western Australia run by Woodside Energy. Pluto Train 2 will process Scarborough gas and have an LNG capacity of ~5 million tonnes per annum. As part of the construction of Pluto Train 2, additional domestic gas infrastructure will be installed to increase capacity to ~225 Terajoules per day. Woodside Energy has selected Bechtel to deliver the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning scope of work for Pluto Train 2. Woodside Energy is Australia's leading natural gas producer, and Bechtel is excited to be working with this key customer to help meet the increasing global demand for LNG as a transitional energy source.
# Job Summary:
Bechtel is now accepting applications undergraduates in the fields of Science, Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) and Bachelor of Science (Health, Safety and Environment) to join our 2025 - 2026 Summer Intern Program located at our Energy Project (Pluto Train 2), located in Karratha, Western Australia. Bechtel's internship program was created to cultivate real-life industry interest based on hands-on experience. Many new university graduate hires began their careers at Bechtel as a student intern.
During this time, you'll see first-hand how our business works and take on tasks related directly to the construction of the project and internal initiatives, all which will give you valuable industry experience all while having a real impact on our organization. Interns work in our multidisciplinary teams, under a dedicated supervisor who will be responsible for providing you with a full and busy workload, whilst also ensuring we provide you with the best experience possible during your time with us. Interns will work a 3:1 roster and during their swing will be accommodated in the project's Red Dog Village Camp.
Our internships run as a 12-week program over the university summer holidays commencing on **24th November 2025** . This is a FIFO opportunity from Perth, Western Australia to Karratha, Western Australia on a 3weeks on / 1week off roster for the duration of the program.
# Education and Experience Requirements:
+ Applicants must be in their second or third year of their degree at an accredited university in one of the fields listed above, and,
+ Be an Australian citizen or have the right to permanently work and remain in Australia without sponsorship, and,
+ Be able to pass any pre-employment requirements such as a drug screen and background check.

# Additional Information:
_This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.). The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco - are permitted to be brought to the site._

**Position Summary**
The Quality & Safety Manager is responsible for coordination and compliance of Quality and Safety activities across the regulatory authorities.
**Main Responsibilities**
+ Responsible for location Quality Systems

+ Conduct Investigations on location Quality & Safety & WHS Occurrence Reports
+ Supporting the systems and processes that ensure compliance with all required CASA, EASA, FAA and other foreign regulatory approvals.
+ Create an annual Audit plan
+ Conduct Internal & External Quality Audits; report on findings and monitor corrective actions.
+ Liaise as required with regulatory authorities on RBIH Australia Pty Ltd Certificate matters.
+ Support and provide training initiatives, manual update briefing and programs to location staff.
+ Liaise with Regulatory Authorities to ensure Audit / Approvals are kept up to date to the annual plan.
+ Conduct audit of products, processes and management systems.
+ Conduct Audits of Quality Suppliers
+ Oversee compliance against Company Manuals and Regulatory requirements.
+ Monitor Regulatory (aviation & business) approvals/renewals
+ Carry out occurrence investigations for incidents relating to maintenance operations and report on findings as required.
+ Identify and investigate near misses.
+ Utilise company reporting system / data base (Jet safe) to capture and follow up on hazard, occurrence and audits
+ Make recommendation for implementation of preventive actions and process improvements.
+ Manage and maintain "Approved Suppliers" list
+ Monitor advice from regulating authorities not limited to Safety Bulletins and Airworthy Directives.
**Main Responsibilities Cont.**
+ Conduct occurrence investigations and timely actions reporting into the Quality & Safety Management System.
+ Facilitate as required, Regulatory, Customer and Third party audits.
+ Signatory for the maintenance of current procedure for compliance with Regulatory and Company requirements.
+ Signatory on competence for Company authorisation for inspection and quality functions.
+ Actively support and participate in the Company core values and policies and continuous improvement strategies.
+ Enhance the relationship with regulatory authorities
+ Monitor trends in the ongoing changes to regulations.
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Minimum 5 years' experience in Aviation industry as an AME, Licensed Engineer or Aviation Degree qualified.
+ Knowledge and experience with CASA, EASA and other NAA regulations (Specifically CASA part 145)
+ Trained and experienced Quality Auditor.
+ Knowledge of Safety and Risk Management systems and policies.
+ Knowledge of OH&S and Environment requirements. (OHS qualified)
+ Trained in Safety Investigations
+ Experience in a Customer Focused Work environment
+ Effective communication including excellent written and verbal skills
+ Computer literacy in Microsoft Suite & Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems.
