We have an opportunity for a Civil Designer to join our Community Development team in Perth, Western Australia. Reporting to the Civil Team Lead, you will work on projects delivering solutions in urban, land and subdivision projects within Perth and surrounds. The role will suit an experienced Civil Designer who has worked on multi-disciplined civil projects for Councils, Local government, Main Roads, or developers.
Our approach to community development consulting covers master planned communities, mixed-use developments, parks, recreation facilities, and streetscapes. **The role**
+ Preparing conceptual and detailed designs using 12D (land subdivisions, road infrastructure, drainage, sewer & water systems as well as associated infrastructure)
+ Interpret civil design requirements of State Government, Local Government Authorities and private sector clients
+ Interface with associated disciplines such as transport, planning, survey, traffic, electrical and landscaping
+ Interact with clients regarding project needs

Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.

We are looking for a driven Civil Designer to join our Water Division based in our beautiful Gold Coast office at Carrara to contribute to our Water Infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for the design of direct engineering projects such as dams, reservoirs, pipelines, pump stations and various water and wastewater systems including treatment plants. We have a significant workload and have secured highly sought after long term projects.
**About the role:**
* Perform broad, varied and diverse engineering design tasks on assigned projects under general supervision of the lead or manager, including engineering drawings and providing CAD input to engineering reports and presentations undertaken by engineers.
* Engage in the development of design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats, and prepare and revise documentation in various civil phases including site plans, utility plan/profiles, grading plans, cross sections, diagrams, submittal reviews and response to information requests as required.
* Assist senior engineers/designers in providing CAD input to assist with developing and managing the project scope including cost estimates, budget, staffing and schedule.
* Assess potential construction sites, check existing structures for upgrades, and create drawings and schematics of projects using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
* Assist the senior project civil engineer in preparing the conceptual, preliminary and final design and contribute toward client project meetings.
* Provide CAD input to engineering project proposals, change orders, client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
* Coordinate technical activities and designs with personnel in other disciplines and departments and serve as a liaison between senior engineer and design team.
* Confirm adherence to construction specifications during each phase of a project.
* Provide CAD input to monitoring project progress and verify calculations and placements. Assist with inspection of construction sites from time to time with supervision from senior civil engineers.
**To be successful for this role you'll need:**
* Associate Degree in Engineering (Civil) or similar with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
* Civil 3D experience highly desired, however 12D and similar civil design package experience are acceptable (with willingness to learn/use Civil 3D).
* Have a solutions-based approach to projects along with an aptitude to resourcefulness.
* Ability to work largely autonomously under direction of the Design Lead/Manager.
* Minimum intermediate level AutoCAD experience.
* Navisworks/Infraworks experience will be an advantage.
* Experience in water infrastructure design/drafting will be an advantage.

The Opportunity
To support our existing portfolio of projects, we are looking for an Electrical Designer/Drafter for a full-time role with our team in Melbourne. You will have the opportunity to contribute to significant water infrastructure projects via our strong partnerships with water authorities.
You will be a key member of KBR's Water team who, in a joint venture with John Holland has been delivering Melbourne Water's complex infrastructure projects through major design and construction framework, that will see us supporting Melbourne Water for well over a decade of continuous service.
In addition, the team are delivering major capital projects to South East Water's record $1.5 billion investment as part of a new industry partnership between Abergeldie, BMD & KBR (ABK). The 10-year contract will see ABK plan and deliver major infrastructure upgrades in partnership with Southeast Water as part of a new integrated capital works planning and delivery model.
You would be responsible for using 2D and 3D computer aided design applications to develop electrical designs, models and drawings. You will evaluate design intent provided by professional engineers and translate that into the model or drawing.
Additionally, you will assist in the design of larger and more complex assignments that involve conventional plans, investigations, and surveys. Primarily this is for water and wastewater treatment, recycled water plants, chemical dosing plants, pumping, piping, chemical storage, minor structural and civil elements.
Who are you?
We are seeking a candidate who has experience of design within the electrical disciplines preferably on water infrastructure but any industrial plant exposure will be highly regarded.
You are confident to work with stakeholders across all levels and have a willingness to provide technical assistance and guidance to designers and less experienced engineers.
You should be able to deal one on one and facilitate group discussions to foster the level of collaboration required to create an environment for individuals to achieve optimum design (2D/3D) performance.
You will also have the following skills & experience:
+ Associate degree, Diploma, Associate Diploma of Design or Engineering or similar para-professional level qualification, or equivalent experience.
+ Previous consulting/design/technical experience on water infrastructure and linear pipeline design as a designer
+ Extensive experience in the practice of the drafting and design in the general electrical engineering sector using various software, preferably AutoCAD or Elecdes.
+ Demonstrated understanding of local industry standards and market sector.

Position Overview:
As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you'll play a key role in supporting major defence infrastructure projects. You'll be part of a high-performing team of engineers and designers across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, civil, and structural disciplines. Your work will directly influence project efficiency, cost containment, and operational success.
You'll use your 2D and 3D CAD skills to develop and document designs, translating engineering intent into detailed models and drawings. With a strong foundation in mechanical and water infrastructure, you'll contribute to the design of pumping systems, pipelines, water and wastewater treatment, stormwater and drainage, and chemical storage and dosing systems.
