**About the role**
Our established NSW Planning team is looking for a new **Team Leader** to join us on a permanent basis, within our Wollongong or Sydney offices. This role will contribute to Stantec business goals by providing leadership and mentoring the planning team, whilst also providing professional planning advice in both statutory and strategic planning.
You will have the opportunity to contribute to multi-disciplinary project teams, and also work independently as a Principal planner on your own projects. Our team works on a range of land development, infrastructure, and strategic planning projects across New South Wales.

**Day to day tasks would involve:**
Leading a team of Urban Planners, ensuring correct staffing levels and resourcing of projects, maintaining a high level of engagement with team members, and working with partner Team leads across other disciplines to achieve project outcomes
+ Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in urban planning research, data analysis and report writing and a comprehensive knowledge of NSW urban planning and environmental legislation.
+ Act as project manager with planning, programming and coordination of projects to ensure that project outputs meet or exceed agreed goals.
+ Develop project plans and strategies for the completion of major projects including identification of business resource requirements.
+ Manage or assist with the preparation of strategies, reports, environmental impact assessments and other planning documentation and submissions on behalf of clients.
+ Undertake technical and quality reviews of documentation prepared by the planning team to ensure that documentation and service levels meet or exceed client's expectations.
+ Lead and assist with the preparation of tender documentation.
+ Foster client relationships and identify business opportunities.
+ Grow, develop and mentor junior staff.
**Qualifications**
**To be successful for this role you'll need:**
+ Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or Architecture/Urban Design or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
+ Demonstrated leadership experience in a consultancy environment or similar.
+ Proficiency in urban planning research, data analysis and report writing
+ Extensive experience in statutory or strategic planning, preferably within NSW.
+ Self-motivated and self-directed
+ Interest in working on a broad variety of projects
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with the team, managers and clients.

**Position Summary:**
The Head of Planning plays a pivotal role in optimizing a Thermo Fisher Scientific ANZ supply chain process, ensuring seamless coordination from demand forecasting to inventory management and distribution. This senior-level position is responsible for developing strategic plans that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels. + Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Industrial Engineering, Science preferred
+ 10+ years of relevant professional experience leading Planning & SIOP, ideally including in a sales/distribution business model
+ Experience operating at a senior management level and being a member of a leadership group
+ Demonstrated track record in shifting business performance from a low to a high sustainable performance, in tough circumstances
+ Strong PPI, Lean and or Six Sigma working experience with demonstrated achievement of continuous improvement through utilization of Lean tools
+ Experience in leading teams of managers and individual contributors, with a track record of attracting and developing talent, developing bench strengths and leading a complex, diverse and dispersed workforce
+ Experience handling Third Party Suppliers and Global Manufacturing partners
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to influence optimally at all levels of the organization

**CANDIDATE PROFILE**
**Education and Experience**
+ 3-5 years of work experience in hotel consulting and/or development planning and feasibility.
**Skills and Competencies**
+ In-depth knowledge of the hotel industry, specifically of hotel brands and their market positioning.
+ In-depth knowledge of the hotel markets in Australia and New Zealand is essential.
+ Good understanding of the real estate industry, including hotel valuation and investment analysis.
+ Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
+ Strong Excel and financial modeling, written and verbal presentation skills.
+ Ability to effectively persuade and support a position in a professional manner.
+ Executive presence with the ability to work with and present to all levels of the organization.
+ Excellent critical thinking, sound judgment, and strong business acumen.
+ Keen attention-to-detail, high degree of initiative and resourcefulness, as well as a service-oriented attitude.

Key Responsibilities include:
+ Provide planning and master scheduling services to major clients across various industries
+ Apply risk management techniques including risk register development, contingency planning and contingency management.
+ Collaborate with the Major Projects Project Services Manager to deliver resource management frameworks, processes, procedures and tools.
+ Drive project compliance and governance standards for best practise requirements.
+ Manage project lifecycles working with management and other members of the project team to maintain and achieve budgets within a tight timeframe.
+ Recommending cost control improvements, cost breakdowns and commercial oversight to projects in collaboration with the wider Project Controls team

+ Technical ability in MS Project, Primavera P6, Excel and SharePoint essential.

+ Detailed knowledge of industry best practices in project controls, including estimating, cost control and planning/scheduling, for engineering services type projects.

**What does a Civil Engineer in Transport do?**
+ Undertake site inspections and gathers base information on road environment, traffic and road safety observation, parking inventories and facilities etc.
+ Plan, supervise and conduct traffic and parking surveys.
+ Analyse traffic and parking data using Excel (demand forecasts) and SIDRA modelling.
+ Assess and provide solutions-focused design advice for transport infrastructure and operations, including pedestrian pathways, cycling and end-of-trip facilities, car parking layouts, etc.
+ Prepare draft reports and other correspondence as directed in support of the project RPEQ.
+ Obtain and assess crash data to identify road safety concerns and possible treatments.
+ Attend client meetings (where appropriate) in support of the project RPEQ.
+ May involve some work after hours, e.g. to attend industry activities, coordinate or undertake transport network operation observations, evening site inspections, etc.
