We are seeking a motivated individual to work on an exciting Trailblazer Project in multi-agent decision making in contested and dynamic environments, involving extensively applied work at the intersection of data fusion, decision making and machine learning, with real-world testing and feedback. The successful applicant will work on decision making for anomaly detection, behaviour analysis and surveillance decisions, under the direction of A/Prof Claudia Szabo in the School of Computer and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Adelaide. This position will work with our partners Praetorian Aeronautics and their testing team to field test emerging AI agent-based technology and push forward projects of national significance. You will learn first-hand about the current state of drone-based surveillance, tracking and distributed decision making and will have a meaningful impact on the future direction of critically deployed solutions. You will work with other researchers and engineers in A/Prof Szabo’s team who share broad goals in decision making in contested and dynamic environments, data fusion, multi-agent reinforcement learning, and secure and robust machine learning solutions.
The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a team with a hands-on approach to experimentation allied to strong theoretical underpinnings. The candidate must be a strong team player and be able to communicate and work with the investigators and industrial partners. They will ideally have some experience of using open-source relevant software packages and a track record of delivery on project-based work.
To be successful at Level HEO8 you will need:
- Have excellent and extensive industry experience in computer science, data science or (applied) machine learning, decision making, and other closely related area.

Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver features and services under the guidance of senior team members, ensuring secure and scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to refine requirements and contribute to technical planning.
- Participate in code reviews, sharing feedback and upholding code quality standards.
- Support the team by troubleshooting issues, debugging code, and assisting in problem-solving activities.
- Continuously learn and apply new technologies and practices to enhance development workflows and product quality.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in software development, ideally with at least some of that in a startup environment
- Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, React, MUI, Azure
- A University degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Experience with Identity, Authentication and Authorisation, including Microsoft Azure and Entra ID, and DevOps and CI/CD is a big plus

About The Role
A permanent opportunity for a Junior to Mid-Level Front End Software Engineer is now available at QuiteLike. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role will primarily be responsible for building and nurturing not only our consumer facing products but also our engineering culture dring the early stages of our business. Whilst we are looking for a candidate who is strong in frontend technologies, if you are someone who has worked as a fullstack engineer you will also be considered and we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities Will Include
About you & your skills
- Software engineer with at least 3-5 years’ experience
- Experience with front-end web development and related tools/languages/frameworks
- React, Javascript, CSS, TypeScript, REST GraphQL, APIs etc.
- Desirable experience with Next.js, Storybook
- Desirale experience with release and automation pipelines
- Experience in content management systems
- Experience in web performance optimisations
- Understanding of architectural principles & system design
- Experience in (or willingness to learn) build pipelines
- Willingness to gain exposure to other systems and technologies
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
- Ensure the team is developing software quality in-line with the broader teams’ expectations
- Facilitate and govern peer reviews and testing standards
- Tertiary qualifications in a technology engineering discipline such as computer science preferred
- Ability to engage with other technical leaders to drive improvements outside of your direct influence
- Stakeholder management skills
- Great people communicator, excellent communication skills
- Ability to coordinate across multiple technology and business teams
