The Accountant is a key member of the finance team responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the business, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and assistance with Payroll administration. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this hands-on role supports month-end processes, compliance, procurement, and system optimisation. Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Manage end-to-end Accounts Payable and Receivable processes, ensuring accurate and timely payment and invoice management.
Set up and maintain a centralised system for accounts management.
Monitor invoice due dates and reconcile payments in NAB Connect and Xero.
Address and resolve payment or invoicing queries, including non-standard issues.
Perform regular account reconciliations in Xero and ensure accurate records.
Payroll & Contractor Payments
Assist with monthly payroll processing across AU, NZ, and USA.
Assist to onboard new employees in Xero, ensuring accurate collection and entry of employee data.
Process staff expenses and reimbursements via Xero.
Ensure compliance with superannuation and other regulated payroll payments.
Assist with final pay calculations and termination payments.
Payment & Debt Collection
Monitor payment processing via Stripe and ensure retry protocols are followed.
Manage overdue payments reporting and follow-up processes.
Track and report on membership cancellations, pauses, or retention concerns.
Establish and uphold high standards for payment collection systems and procedures.
Systems & Planning Support
Support forecasting of monthly and quarterly revenue in line with business strategy.
Maintain awareness of fees, charges, and pricing changes across all platforms.
Assist in negotiating and managing subscriptions and monthly recurring expenses.
Help implement and manage finance-related systems and software to improve efficiency.
Accounting & Legal Support
Assist with all tax preparation and submissions (eg BAS and Payroll Tax), ensuring tax compliance.
Support external audits through documentation management and auditor liaison.
Maintain accurate and compliant financial records.
Contribute to the budgeting process and assist in monitoring performance against targets.
Risk & Control
Support the identification of financial risks and help establish preventative controls.

Key Requirements
Skills & Experience
2–4+ years' experience in accounts, bookkeeping, or finance administration roles.
Strong understanding of accounting processes, payroll systems, and compliance requirements.
Hands-on experience with accounting software such as Xero and payment systems like NAB Connect and Stripe (preferred).
High proficiency in Excel and experience with reconciliation and month-end processes.
Familiarity with Australian tax and payroll legislation; knowledge of NZ/US payroll is a plus.
Exposure to budgeting and reporting processes is advantageous.

The Junior Accountant will also provide essential support to our distribution clients through monthly reporting, account reconciliation, invoice verification, and the calculation of recharges.
**The Candidate Profile:**
The ideal candidate will have an accounting degree and demonstrable knowledge of the AP function. Previous experience in an AP and in the media sector, whether in industry or audit capacity, is desirable. You will have exceptional organisational and communication skills together with solid knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, strong intermediate to advanced Excel skills and experience working with accountancy software.

RequirementsWhat our client is looking for:
CPA-qualified (or equivalent CA) .
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
5+ years’ experience in a comparable accounting or finance role.
In-depth knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax compliance requirements.
Xero experience is preferred, but not essential.
Proven management and leadership experience in professional practice.
Strong technical knowledge with the ability to devise solutions for clients.
Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
Highly organised, self-motivated, and committed to professional growth.
Ambition to step into a broader practice management role and build a long-term career.

Position Purpose
To provide accurate and timely accounting, analysis and ongoing reporting to the Operations Manager and CEO.The role involves staff management and a requirement to review and develop procedures and controls within the Accounts Team. There is an opportunity for growth within the Company.
Main Tasks
Be responsible for developing and maintaining internal controls Fortnightly and monthly payroll processing Workcover obligations Processing annual leave and other staff leave Oversees employee entitlements and leave liabilities Oversees overdue debtors Reconciling invoices, and receipts in Xero Superannuation and PAYG quarterly processing Assisting with HR records management Liaising with external company accountants Managing accounts payable including processing of invoices due for payment Overseas accounts receivable Understand and work within the NDIS, expectations of being a provider and complying with the NDIS Code of Conduct (training on the job) Have an understanding of the NDIS and the expectations of being a registered provider Understating and adhering to Connect2Care's policies and procedures Working with our clinical software and clinical staff Working with Microsoft Office 365 and other Connect2Care software Generating Financial Reports and interpret them to direct company decision Operate within the senior leadership team and direct Company decision Manage and supervise the accounts team personnel Understating and adhering to Connect2Care's policies and proceduresThe above list is not exhaustive, and the role may change to meet the overall objectives of the company.
