Job Description
Senior Maritime Structural Engineer
The Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to join one of the most talented and respected engineering teams in Australia. Working within our National Maritime Team, you will be involved with the design and planning activities for large scale multi-discipline maritime facilities for a variety of industries including; defence, local government, state government, ports, and sustainability (hydrogen terminals). You will apply your existing experience across these different industries and gain exposure to new and interesting projects. You will be supported by and get to work with a range of other disciplines across KBR and other partners.
While you may know some of our more high-profile projects, such as the AUKUS nuclear powered submarine facility upgrades (HMAS Stirling, Perth), we do much more than just defence. Our team works on large-scale clean energy (Port Bonython Hydrogen Hub, Adelaide), boating infrastructure (Clump Point Boat Ramp, North Queensland), wharf and port infrastructure (Port of Brisbane, Wharf 11 & 12), and remediation of valuable public assets (Central Pier, Melbourne).
This role will see you leveraging your existing maritime structural experience, to deliver everything from concept designs through to construction phase support. While this is primarily a technical role, you will be given opportunities for leadership (project management and design management), and business development (proposal preparation and client positioning).
Who are you?
Our Senior Maritime Structural Engineers typically have between 5 and 15 years experience with the following skills and experience:
+ Experience in structural design including reinforced concrete and steel in the marine environment.
+ Experience in the design, evaluation and reporting on ports, harbours, coastal works and marine structures (wharves, jetties, port developments, marinas, seawalls, pontoons etc)
+ Experience in the design of berthing and mooring systems
+ Experience in using structural analysis software (desirable skillset: SPACE GASS, Strand 7, IDEAStatica)
+ Experience working with the local governments, port clients, and/or the Defence sector
+ Experience with maritime Australian and international design codes and guidelines
+ Demonstrated skills in providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff to enhance their skills and capability
+ Ability to project manage and/or design manage small maritime projects
+ Ability to engage with clients, pursue opportunities and win work
+ Chartered Professional Engineer (or ability to get chartership within agreed timeframe)
+ Tertiary degree qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering
+ Eligibility for Australian Government security clearance
Don't meet every requirement? That's OK. We are growing our team with a range of diverse and varied professionals. If you don't meet the experience above, but still think you can contribute to the team, we encourage you to apply and have a chat to us.
