**About the Role:**
Caterpillar of Australia is currently seeking a System Architect to join the team, located in Brisbane CBD.
As a senior member of the team, you will be working to evolve the MineStar product suite in close collaboration with a wide variety of technical, business, customer and leadership stakeholders for Fleet Management, Autonomous Command and Control and Production Recording capabilities across large and small mining operations on a global scale.
This is a deeply technical role where you can exhibit your expert technical capability and experience in building complex systems. The successful communication of these concepts is essential to this role.
**Specific responsibilities include:**
+ Combine business objectives and solution intent to produce system-level designs that explain the structure, components and interactions in appropriate detail for a software development team to consume.
+ Peer-review of solution and system-level designs to ensure business requirements are met, comply to best practices, consider system constraints, and remain aligned to the broader enterprise and architectural strategy.
+ Presentation of system designs to relevant stakeholders, architectural and technical leads, and to software development teams to guide successful delivery of value to our customers.
+ Provide technical leadership throughout the software development process, helping to remove technical challenges and/or roadblocks as they arise.
+ Ensure feature development is executed in accordance with the product and technical direction, while meeting the needs of the solution intent and maintaining alignment with architectural strategy.
+ Establish and develop technical evaluation pilots and projects to prove concepts, advance technology growth and replace technical debt, and champion the adoption of new technology driven ideas, patterns and methods.
+ Maintaining designs and documentation as the system evolves over time, and contribute to the selection and approval of technologies that best suit the problem at hand.
+ Guide, document and communicate architectural decisions and contribute to establishing and maintaining design standards.
+ Collaborate with the architect team(s) to provide insights that drive improvements to delivery program processes and ways of working, and external processes that impact the product.
**Required Skills & Experience:**
+ A bachelor's degree or higher in software engineering, computer science or related discipline.
+ 7+ years' relevant commercial software development experience, having worked with:
+ Java or similar languages
+ Microservices and distributed architectures
+ Modern databases, technologies and techniques
+ Applications deployed both in cloud and on-premises
+ Strong collaboration skills with local and remote teams.
+ Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
+ Able to communicate technical information effectively and accurately to both technical and non-technical audiences.
+ Experience with modern security principles and technologies.
+ Strong analytical, design and problem-solving skills.
**Desired skills and experience:**
+ Previous experience working as a Lead Developer or System Architect within a product delivery organisation.
+ Previous experience in mining business domain and/or mining technology OEM.
+ Willingness to stay up to date on latest technology trends and make recommendations for adoption where appropriate.
+ Willingness to take on-board and provide feedback to colleagues, junior staff, and leaders.
+ Willingness to undertake training and professional certifications as required.
+ Willingness to get your hands dirty in the code, working with our developers to prototype out patterns, methods and technologies.
+ Willingness to travel interstate and internationally to support the role.

Leidos Australia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineering Manager/Architect to join our team and help us realise the next generation of integrated, robust, flexible and sustainable Mission Software Solutions. In this pivotal role you will be an integral part of Leidos Australia's technical leadership team, driving innovation, shaping technical direction and delivering high-impact solutions.
Reporting to the Vice President, Science, Engineering and Technology, with close engagement with other line of business Vice Presidents, you will utilise your extensive technical expertise, leadership and influencing skills to:
+ Propose compelling DevSecOps and Mission Software Solutions to meet customer requirements.
+ Support captures through technical leadership and hands on development.
+ Secure new business by working with mission focussed teams, generating compelling technical thinking, solutions and approaches to customer challenges.
+ Mobilise new programs and provide technical leadership of our DevSecOps/Mission Software research and development and new capabilities delivery activities.
+ Manage and influence a variety of stakeholders including and up to senior stakeholders in a global context.
**What You'll Bring to Make An Impact**
+ Tertiary qualification in a relevant engineering discipline and eligibility for certification as a Chartered Engineer through Engineers Australia or similar
+ Proven leadership in large-scale DevSecOps projects including solution design, mobilisation, integration and stakeholder engagement in secure environments.
+ Demonstrated experience managing the full capability lifecycle within a DevSecOps/Mission Software environment.
+ In-depth knowledge of mission systems including C4ISR, intelligence, systems-of-systems, data integration and sensors.
+ Demonstrated application of the Software/Systems Engineering life cycle model in a DevSecOps construct including familiarity with CI/CD, Dev Low/Deploy High and CATO.
+ Experience delivering complex technical development and integration programs over $20m.

The Naval Architect will work in the Offshore design group to develop and maintain Bentley's offshore software products. This includes development of numerical algorithms for offshore engineering, general mathematical calculations and assisting a team of programmers to implement different engineering design modules for Bentley's MOSES product.
**Responsibilities**
+ Design, program, and document numerical algorithms for engineering and general mathematical calculations in the software and troubleshooting engineering design modules to support the technical support group.
+ Develop advanced hydrodynamic analysis software used in cross-products and to serve as a mentor to junior developers.
**Required Skills**
+ Advanced (MS, PhD) degree in Naval Architecture, Structural or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or relevant experience
+ Advanced programming skills in FORTRAN
+ Advanced understanding of Hydrodynamics
+ Experience in developing software using Intel FORTRAN and Object-oriented programming
+ Excellent sense of logic and engineering workflow
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
**Desired Skills**
+ Experience in the use of hydrodynamic design and analysis tools e.g. MOSES, SESAM, Orcaflex, NEMOH etc.
+ Knowledge of aero-elastic wind turbine solvers such as Bladed and OpenFAST
+ Knowledge in some of the following areas is a plus: three-dimensional static and dynamic (time-history) analysis of structures, finite element development (thin and thick shell, solid, beams, columns) solution methods, directiterative solvers, sparse Eigen solvers
+ Some working knowledge of Oil & Gas offshore floating structures
+ Knowledge of the offshore renewable energy industry
+ Programming in C# or C++, Python
+ Some experience in the development of macro programs in Excel, MathCAD, MatLab
+ Experience in software development processes following the Agile philosophy
+ Experience in multi-threaded software development (parallel programming for multi-core CPUGPU systems)

Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
