Job Description
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
The Global Network Delivery organization in AWS Infrastructure seeks a TiPM to support a global data center quality team. In this role you will drive best-in-class cabling quality in AWS' APAC data centers to help us achieve the best operating, lowest cost, infrastructure in the world. You will ensure the highest quality standard is enforced and upheld and your efforts ensure we launch our data center network right-first time, on time, to enable the cloud for customers. You will establish mechanisms to inspect, track, and measure cabling projects for installation quality at multiple stages during the deployment process with both internal teams and contracted vendors. You will partner with install teams on remediation efforts and establish preventative mechanisms. You will establish metrics and drive the right quality outcomes by tracking cabling and hardware issues and breaking down problems into different categories and risk levels.
You will partner with a team of quality engineers whose responsibility is to see that all build, scaling, bricks, project cables, racks, and hardware installations are completed adhering to the correct guidelines. You should establish standard mechanisms and metrics globally by partnering with your EMEA/AMER peer. You will partner with the network design team to revise and simplify standards so they can be more easily applied and assessed real-time during install. Through your expertise, you will suggest remediations, conduct training, work in conjunction with teams to create or improve processes, and be a subject matter expert on cabling quality to ensure that issues are resolved and prevented from reoccurring. You will be a singular voice of feedback to the vendor management team for all onsite cabling vendors ensuring that external vendors meet AWS' standards, and help enforce rectification of issues as needed.
The ideal candidate possesses strong program and project management skills, experience managing complex and large-scale technology projects (including cost, schedule and performance for portfolios, programs, or individual projects), a proven track record of developing and/or improving processes and procedures, demonstrated excellence working with matrixed teams and influencing without authority, and ability to earn trust and deliver results quickly. Successful candidates are highly responsive and communicate effectively with technical teams to collect requirements and translate those to internal stakeholders to deliver results at scale. You must possess the ability to facilitate technical whiteboard sessions to troubleshoot project implementation issues and remove barriers to project success. You adeptly manage multiple competing projects simultaneously.
