With expertise in water purification, chemical treatment processes, and system troubleshooting, you excel at ensuring that water systems meet quality and safety standards. Your ability to manage treatment operations, analyze water samples, and maintain equipment makes you a vital part of ensuring clean and safe water for both operational and environmental needs.

What You'll DoIn the role of Water Treatment Specialist, your duties will include:
+ Ensures that plant operations follow operating guidelines, and that treated water is safe and acceptable entering the distribution system
+ Assumes responsibility for complete operation and maintenance of treatment plant
+ Monitors, operates, repairs, and maintains plant processes and associated equipment system components
+ Conducts daily rounds and inspections for treatment systems, water wells, main pump stations, water storage tanks, and swimming pools
+ Collects, inspects, tests, and evaluates representative water samples to meet regulations range
+ Maintains chemical feed pumps to adjust proper dosage rate of chemicals
+ Checks chemical dosage tank level and refill tank
+ Performs routine preventive maintenance on plant equipment to include calibrations, basic mechanical and electrical work, and lubricating and replacing parts
+ Maintains all required records such as daily operating logs, AF forms, daily inspection process forms, and chemical and repair parts inventory and compiles and analyzes data and reports daily
+ Manages the operating budget and materials/supplies procurement for the wastewater plant.
Requirements:
+ Must be a US or Australian citizen
+ Must have the ability to obtain and maintain an active US Secret clearance or AUS PV Clearance.
+ An Associate Degree in a related field, such as environmental science or chemistry.
+ A high school diploma and on-the-job training in job duties of wastewater treatment may be considered.
+ A minimum of 5 years' experience in water treatment
+ Must possess excellent communication skills.

Our New South Wales Water Division is experiencing significant growth, presenting the opportunity for a **Design Lead - Water Treatment & Facilities** based in our Sydney team, more specifically within our West Region Delivery Team for Sydney Water. The team has a strong focus on the delivery of Treatment and Facilities Projects, including the upgrade and renewal of reservoirs, pump stations and a broad range of water and wastewater treatment assets. This position is crucial for providing technical expertise during project delivery and leading technical teams to develop and deliver the most appropriate technical solution for key water and wastewater projects.
This role is based in our clients Sydney Olympic Park office.
**About the role:**
The **Design Lead - Water Treatment & Facilities** is accountable for leading the Project Technical Team to develop and deliver the most appropriate design for construction on budget and in accordance with the overall project program. Work closely with the Project Manager and Technical Leads for the delivery, efficiency and quality of all design deliverables. You will coordinate all multi‐disciplinary activities and inputs by the engineering and technical teams, including specialist inputs from procurement, construction, and maintenance teams to ensure an integrated design solution.
The **Design Lead - Water Treatment & Facilities** contributes to the technical delivery of the outputs and is responsible for managing time, cost and quality in production of the design, along with the following:
+ Manage the delivery of design in accordance with the scope and is responsible for change management at the project level.
+ Ensure all technical outputs conform to the project scope, are safe and are of appropriate quality (confirmed by independent review).
+ Manage scope change through established systems and processes
+ Deliver design to the required quality standards using diverse teams.
+ Manage multi-disciplinary teams in a professional services or project delivery environment, able to work within a matrix structure.
+ Exercises independent judgement, initiative and in-depth evaluation of various factors for addressing and resolving unusual and complex issues or situations.
+ Considered an internal subject matter expert who applies advanced practical and theoretical knowledge
+ Experienced in delivering projects to the required quality standards using diverse teams.
+ Working inclusively with the Client and key stakeholders during the development of technical solutions, and present technical outcomes throughout, during handovers and at the end of the project.
+ Technical Planning activities, including confirming the technical delivery methodology; identifying and coordinating all technical resource needs; undertaking forward planning and tracking progress of all technical activities.
+ Technical delivery activities, including implementing sound and efficient methodology; leading the planning and production of all technical deliverables; implementing an efficient and effective checking and review process; ensuring safety, innovation and sustainability are properly addressed in the technical outputs; minimise re-work by assisting the Project Manager with identifying and effectively handling scope creep and variations; capture Intellectual Property and sharing technical knowledge.
+ Provide regular monitoring and reporting on schedule, budget, quality, resources, and scope, and proposed corrective action to remedy situation(s) requiring attention.
+ Communicate and coordinate all quality reviews, schedules, status, and modifications with Design Quality teams and Discipline reviewers.
+ Provide direction to Discipline reviewers on the location, schedule, job number, cost code(s), response period, etc., for each submittal review.
+ Notify required discipline/quality leads immediately of any changes to design and subsequent review schedules.
+ Coordinate with other program Leads to estimate project design budgets and develop a design delivery schedule that works with the other project functions such as estimating, procurement, construction, commissioning etc.
+ Identify and mentor technical staff.
+ Contribute to proposal and bid development to support business development activities, including preparing proposal material as required and budget for client business cases
+ Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality, Safety & Environment Systems and Project Quality Procedures.
+ Minimise and control risk by commitment to the Stantec Quality, Health & Safety programmes and ensuring proactive use of our project management systems.
+ Other duties as reasonably required.
**Qualifications**
**To be successful for this role you'll present:**
+ Tertiary qualification in relevant engineering field.
+ Chartered Engineer or working towards.
+ 8 years' experience in an engineering consultancy.
+ Leadership abilities including managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
+ Knowledge of water and wastewater assets and the delivery environment.
+ Highly developed problem solving and negotiation skills to resolve disputes that arise.
+ Strong understanding of D&C or alternative delivery projects.
+ Solid report writing with the ability to tell a compelling story.
+ Proficient in Project Management Tools, MS Project, Power BI.
+ Previous experience working with Sydney Water is desirable.

**Job Description**
Our Water Resources team provides multi-disciplinary, integrated delivery of water resources services across all industry sectors, particularly in the areas of flood impact assessment, hydrological and hydraulic modelling, drainage design, mine water management and coastal engineering.
By joining our team, you will have access to mentoring and guidance from our industry leading experts. You will also have the opportunity to work and collaborate with interstate and international offices.
**How you'll make a difference**
+ Work on a variety of projects, leading and delivering flood risk management, flood modelling and hydrology/hydraulic assessment support whilst focusing on technical excellence
+ Assist with the preparation of tenders and proposals
+ Collaborate with a large number of professionals in a range of geographies and build relationships with internal and external clients across multiple sectors, ensuring client service satisfaction.
+ Help to coach a range of junior professionals, fostering the growth and development of the team.
**Qualifications**

+ Tertiary qualifications in civil or environmental engineering & RPEQ / CPEng (highly regarded)
+ Strong client focus, high level of motivation and dedication and the ability work well in a team environment as well as independently
+ Experience or interest in project management
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to quickly build rapport and communicate with various stakeholders
+ Ideally, demonstrated experience with water resource modelling and design packages such as TUFLOW, DRAINS, HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), RORB, XPRAFTS, URBS, 12d, MUSIC, GoldSim, IQQM, Source etc.
+ Good working knowledge of ARR 2019, TMR Drainage Manual, and QUDM.
