We are looking for a Power Systems Engineer to establish Eaton ANZ as an enabler and advisor for Data Centre customers meeting NSP and AEMO grid connection requirements. This is a highly visible role and perfect for a subject matter expert who will enhance current engineering capability and capacity in understanding grid requirements for large Data Centre grid connections.
The successful candidate will work closely with global R&D Teams & local customers and leverage their expertise to strengthen relationships with key accounts, and the Data Centre Segment strategy.
**Key Duties:**
+ Accountable for keeping abreast with the ANZ national grid related technical requirements, challenges, and National Electricity rules related to new customer power connections.
+ Provide regular updates to management on upcoming technology/ rule changes, any gaps that need to be addressed and risk vs opportunity analysis.
+ Collaborate with Eaton Global R&D team on requirements such as PSCAD, PSSE Powerfactory modelling.
+ Assess and advise on new technology impacts in the areas of Data Centres, HVDC, BESS, EV infrastructure integration.
+ Participate in pre-sales processes to understand customer business, technical objectives, and project requirements.
+ Understand customer pain points and actively engage to provide solutions.
+ Collaborate with product management, commercial sales teams, and partners to engage customers and apply solutions and write content for technical and commercial proposals.
**Qualifications:**
+ 5+ years of experience within utility or Energy sector as project engineer/ project manager preferably with AEMO, NSP.
+ Knowledge of power system modelling software such as PSCAD, PSSE, BESS would be highly advantageous.
+ Strong leadership, relationship management, communication, and interpersonal skills are crucial.
+ Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

The Engineering Manager – Power Systems is a strategic leadership role focused on high voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) infrastructure projects. These span transmission lines, substations, and power systems across the utility, industrial, and renewable sectors. This role blends technical excellence with team leadership, delivering constructible, cost effective, and sustainable designs that meet project scope, budget, and schedule.

  • Oversee compliance with Design Controls and Engineering Management Systems, including Safety in Design

Required Skills and Competencies









  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Chartered Status (including RPEV, RPEQ, NER & CPEng), or the ability to achieve within months of commencing, is desirable

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) leading engineering teams in HV/MV systems and infrastructure (including 220kV or higher)

  • Ideally, 5+ years of fieldwork, supporting hands-on engineering and site collaboration

  • Knowledge of constructability, systems integration, and technical governance

  • Experience with standards like IEC, IEEE, AS/NZS and a strong safety-first mindset

  • Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor and/or TNSP experience is highly regarded

Located at Wingfield and reporting to the Manager Commercial Engines, you will have mechanical experience with industrial, marine and generator engines. You must be able to work unsupervised and extended hours when required, in a field or workshop environment.

The successful candidate will work within a motivated and high quality operation to work to our high service standards and follow up results. The role offers plenty of variety and will focus on repair, install, service of generators, industrial and marine engines. Some knowledge on gas configured engines would be preferred, but is not essential. This will suit a person with proven fault finding skills, a thorough mechanical aptitude and goal focused.

You will be accustomed to a high level of customer service and have a mature work ethic. You will have experience with Caterpillar generators and engines along with the ability to demonstrate persistence with diagnostics with a great track record for meeting customer expectations.

Some rostered after hours work is necessary with a support system on call and includes a service vehicle.

Your responsibilities will include;

  • Engine system diagnosis
  • Engine overhaul or rebuild repairs to an excellent standard
  • Service and repair to all models of product
  • Assist with generator package installations
  • Ensure all preparations for field repairs are complete prior to leaving the workshop
  • Complete field service dockets on a daily basis

Diesel Mechanic qualifications are essential, as is a current and valid drivers licence.

Electrical Technician Salary Range $101,445 - $112,560 + Super, Overtime and On-Call (including a 9-day fortnight)

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Technician to join a team of distribution technical officers and specialised technicians with a pro-active, can-do approach, and who is able to demonstrate the ability to achieve positive outcomes in a safe and efficient manner.

As an Electrical Technician within the TasNetworks’ Technical Services team, you will be experienced in maintaining specialised assets- HV and LV overhead and ground mounted equipment, such as reclosers, air break switches and regulators. You also have experience with power quality data logging; transformer tap changing and carrying out earthing systems testing.

You will have proven experience in working with various engineering monitoring and control communications systems, as well as a working knowledge of telecommunications hardware and software, as well as having worked with engineering software suites such as WSOS, Putty, Stationware, Powerview and Citrus.

You will be able to write and communicate effectively with the Field Engineering team as well as provide practical expertise and feedback, with a mindset of continuous improvement.

Working towards safe, efficient and customer focussed outcomes, you will also be exposed to working within the distribution network, providing support and expertise to the Program of Works, Projects and external contractor teams in the building, pre-commissioning and installation and commissioning of the above equipment

About you

To be successful in this role you will be a trade qualified Electrician (Cert III in Electrotechnology) and hold a Tasmanian Electrical Practitioners Licence. This, combined with your proven ability to determine the most effective and efficient way to achieve results whilst focusing on continuous improvement is key to joining a high performing team.

Whilst desirable, holding any of the following licences will be advantageous –

  • Medium or Heavy Rigid drivers licence
  • High Risk Work Licence – Dogging (DG), Elevating Work Platform (WP), Vehicle Loading Crane (CV)

Travel within the north-west region of Tasmania is essential. Once required training is completed, there is the ability to participate in overtime and the on-call roster.
