We have an opportunity for a Senior Project Manager role to join the team at our Melbourne office, looking after the delivery of Gunns Gully Rd Interchange. This position is being recruited as a 2 year contract.
The Opportunity - About the Role
Reporting into the State Lead, Project Management, you will be part of the highly regarded VIC Civil/Land Project Management team and will concentrate your expertise on the procurement and delivery of the Stockland funded and delivered Highway Interchange on behalf of State Government. You will provide specialist construction expertise during all stages of delivery and promote best practice project and program management advice across the project.
As a Project Manager aligned to our Project Management business unit you will be a subject matter expert, helping to facilitate and drive the delivery of this key piece of State Level Infrastructure. This is a multi-faceted position that will enable you to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders across our business and with our key business partners.
Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Provide specialist project management tools, resources and advice to support the delivery of the Gunns Gully Interchange on the Hume Freeway.
- Participate as key business partner in the delivery of project profit targets.
- Facilitate, manage and drive efficiency through project cost plans in partnership with Development Managers, authorities, consultants and contractors to realise cost savings.
- Achieve project construction milestones across the project’s life cycle.
- Demonstrate innovation to create financial benefit for the project.
- Manage and contribute to relationships with key stakeholder groups in collaboration with the Development Manager including the contractors, consultants, approval authorities to achieve required business outcomes and in a manner that enhances the image and reputation of Stockland – refer RACI model.
- Ensure the delivery of project management expertise is in a manner that creates a sustainable product and incorporates CR&S and HS&E principles.
- Attend and contribute to the State leadership team for Civil/Land Project Management.
About You
We are seeking someone with strong bridge and highway construction delivery experience with broad knowledge of construction practices and great stakeholder management skills. Previous exposure to MRPV/State Government Infrastructure projects considered an asset. The ideal candidate will also possess:
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or extensive relevant industry experience
- Civil Engineering, Construction Management background, or similar
- Heavy civil experience preferred – roads, bridges, highways etc.
- Extensive experience managing and delivering significant civil infrastructure on behalf of private and public entities
- Strong ability to lead, drive and motivate contractors and consultant teams to achieve program milestones and development objectives
- Proven ability to succeed in navigating and planning complex large infrastructure project delivery
- Proven understanding of legal requirements and obligations in the administration of contracts
- Strong networks of consultant, authority and contractor stakeholders would be advantageous

We are delivering Australia’s largest-ever infrastructure program—$57.5 billion of projects that shape the future of how people and goods move. As a Project Development Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in scoping and developing major infrastructure projects that support customer-centric, sustainable, and innovative transport solutions across NSW.
Purpose of the Role (Key Capabilities)You will be responsible for leading the early-stage planning and development of complex transport infrastructure projects. This includes managing investigations, stakeholder consultations, environmental assessments, and scoping to ensure feasibility, sustainability, and alignment with broader government goals.
· Key responsibilities include:
· Leading project scoping, concept design, and feasibility activities.
· Coordinating stakeholder engagement and community consultation.
· Developing business cases, funding proposals, and environmental assessments.
· Managing relationships across government agencies and private stakeholders.
· Advising senior leaders and contributing to project approvals and reporting.
RequirementsEssential CriteriaTo be successful in this role, you will need:
· Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
· Extensive experience in infrastructure project development, ideally within government or regulated sectors.
· Proven capability in managing multidisciplinary teams, business cases, and strategic design processes.
· Strong ability to communicate complex information to diverse stakeholders and manage community engagement processes.
· Experience with environmental and risk assessments, funding submissions, and design review processes.
