# Project Overview:
The Ranger rehabilitation project is about converting a former Uranium mine, after 35 years of operations, to a thriving native bushland that can be incorporated into the surrounding Kakadu National Park. ERA has engaged the global engineering firm, Bechtel, to support them as a Delivery Partner for ongoing study and execution works. Bechtel will be working alongside ERA and major stakeholder Rio Tinto to restore the land to the status of its surrounding World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park. A collaborative project, it will be developed in consultation with the Mirarr Traditional Owners and will benefit the Jabiru NT community.
Located 8 km east of Jabiru and 260 km south-east of Darwin, the Ranger Project will lead the way in the fast-growing area of mining closures. In this role, you will lead the Bulk Material Movement (BMM) work package on Ranger Rehab Study. This is an exciting opportunity to optimize the closure phase of one of Australia's most important mine sites, developing and implementing an innovative waste stockpile grade characterization methodology to optimize material movement plans. Working Monday to Friday, located primarily from the Brisbane project office the role reports to the Technical Studies Manager.
_This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership_
# Major Responsibilities:
Drive the development and implementation of the Bulk Material movement (BMM) plan to construct the Final Landform across the disturbed mine site to rehabilitate the pits, ponds, stockpiles and other facilities. The study will include an innovative stockpile modelling methodology in collaboration with specialist consultants and site based mine planners, leveraging technical skills in multiple software environments. This role is critical to improving stockpile modelling and refining material movement strategies to optimize delivery of our closure objectives. The successful candidate will form strong working relationships with:
+ Site based closure planning and execution teams.
+ Your colleagues in the closure study team in Brisbane and Darwin.
+ Internal subject matter experts in our Surface Mining and Orebody Knowledge Centre's of Excellence
**The successful candidate will:**
+ Assist with coordinating all engineering activities for the defined area of responsibility for the full project life cycle, including supporting compliance with standardised processes, systems & tools
+ Coordinates the engagement and management of specialist technical contractors / consultants to clarify and optimize bulk material movement work package deliverables
+ Provides engineering and technical support to project Construction teams as required
+ Works closely with project planning and scheduling to develop and maintain project schedule
+ Assists in producing technical reports and project reviews complete with recommendations
+ Coordinates project finances to meet project requirements including assisting with the development of operating and capital budgets
+ Plans and conducts independent Civil/Structural BMM work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of material movement techniques, procedures and criteria on the project
+ Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.
# Education and Experience Requirements:
+ Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
# Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
+ Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Geology, Geospatial Science or a related field
+ Project management experience to drive progress in the BMM workstream to underpin a complex, integrated schedule of work and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
+ The ability to develop strong professional relationships with those stakeholders
+ The ability to influence peers, leaders and other stakeholders to ensure bulk material movement is optimized within competing priorities and the evolving knowledge of the technical challenges to be solved
+ Proficiency in Block modelling and Geospatial analysis to develop and validate high-resolution stockpile models
+ Strong experience using Maptek's Vulcan package
+ Undertake regular travel to ensure effective collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders
+ Contribute to multi-disciplinary collaboration across the studies team with the provision of expertise from their relevant discipline across the entire study scope
+ Collaborate with key stakeholders to give confidence in the future closure strategy and to drive a culture of collaboration and partnership.

**About the role**
Our Geotechnical team services a wide range of clients, working on infrastructure and developments, both for private and public entities across Australia. Due to exceptional success and continued growth, we are recruiting an Intermediate or Senior Pavement Engineer to join our Geotechnical team based in Sydney.
In this role, you will be responsible for planning pavement investigation works, delivering pavement design, rehabilitation projects and performing on-site inspections for various infrastructures including highways, intermodal centres, ports, airports, and local roads.
**Day to day tasks would involve:**
+ Provide technical advice and support on pavement designs, and for road networks on annual resurfacing and rehabilitation programmes against agreed forward works programmes that seek to optimise whole-of-life costs.
+ Develop design and maintenance management practices for pavements and road surfaces.
+ Development of robust forward works programmes and long-term plans to optimise maintenance of road pavements and surfaces.
+ Conduct and manage site surveys and investigations, undertake pavement designs including calculations and modelling, and preparation of specifications and contract documentation.
+ Undertake construction contract management and administration, and site monitoring, surveillance and quality assurance.
+ Provide input and guidance on treatment selection for resurfacing and rehabilitation including reviewing design reports.
**To be successful for this role you'll need:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering with completion of geotechnical / pavement electives and/or major as part of your university studies.
+ Minimum 4 years working experience in consulting field and/or recognised as a senior engineer in your current role.
+ Previous experience working on TfNSW and local council projects and demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. (Interstate experience will also be considered favourably)
+ Previous experience with engineering software packages such as Circly, HIPAVE, Rubicon, Elmod, AutoCAD.

The work spans transport, slope stability, and civil infrastructure. Responsibilities include -Delivering geotechnical design and field investigations for infrastructure projectsPreparing reports, drawings, specs, and design documentationSupporting site investigations and translating results into practical outcomesCollaborating with clients, senior engineers, and project teamsBuilding your experience with mentoring from Principals and senior engineersRequirements Bachelor of Civil or Geotechnical Engineering3–5 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering (ideally infrastructure-based)Some experience with design software (e.g. GINT, Slope/W, Plaxis, AutoCAD)Strong written and verbal communication skillsA proactive approach to problem-solving and learningWhite Card and current Driver’s LicenceCPD commitment and Engineers Australia membership (or working towards) BenefitsLearn from and work directly with senior and principal engineersGet exposure to a broad range of projects and technical challenges, build a long term careerBe supported to build your confidence, independence, and design skillsJoin a friendly, down-to-earth team that values collaboration and initiativeOffice-based in Brisbane CBD with easy access to public transport
