Role Summary
Our Registered Nurses play a crucial role in supporting and caring for residents at the facility, ensuring that there is a focus on maintaining their independence as they age. This is predominantly achieved through the provision of contemporary and timely clinical support and care, aiming to improve age-related deterioration in a resident's social, mental and physical capacities. These services are delivered purposefully, always seeking to assist the residents to live independently, and with dignity, self-determination and comfort.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Delivering clinical services, care planning, reviewing and assessing all aspects of clinical care
- Ensuring that a customer service focus is applied to all clinical care and service delivery
- Providing safe and effective clinical care that is derived from evidence-based practice and in line with scope of practice
- Providing leadership, supervision and coaching to the care support staff at the facility
This role is being hired on either a permanent part-time basis and is located out of our charming Midland Nursing Home!
Skills, Attributes and Experience
The ideal candidates will have significant experience working within residential aged care facilities, and an understanding of the needs of consumers who are residing in or transitioning to residential aged care. They will be familiar with the applications and particulars of the aged care act and aged care quality standards. They will also be familiar with managing challenging behaviours, particularly in people who are living with dementia. Our Registered Nurses provide a high level of leadership to the facility, including conflict resolution, supervision and striving for continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role, you possess the following:
- A minimum 1-2 years of experience working within residential aged care facilities
- Solid understanding of the current Aged Care Quality Standards
- Have the ability to establish trusting relationships and develop person-centered support that is appropriate to residents' unique needs
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills including conflict resolution, supervision and striving for continuous improvement
- Current AHPRA registration and a valid work rights in Australia is essential
- Possess or willing to obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Check

The Role: Please Note
We’re on the hunt for a Registered Nurse at Amana Living, you will have a genuine passion for supporting older people and collaborating with the wider team is essential. As a clinical leader, you will leverage your clinical expertise to guide the team towards achieving outstanding care outcomes. Your alignment with the Quality of Care Principles will enable you to effectively support, educate, and mentor your team, ensuring high standards of care and continuous improvement.
This role is being offered as Part time position within our Registered Nurse Permanent Pool, covering our various residential facilities SOR. The roster will be covering hours from 10pm to 7:15am, 55.5 hours a fortnight Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
As part of the Registered Nurse Permanent Pool SOR, flexibility is key to meeting the required needs across multiple sites. This staffing model involves employees being part of a
Centralised pool, allowing them to be assigned to different locations within the NOR cluster. It offers increased flexibility for both employees and employers.
- Your rostered shift may occasionally change on the day based on operational needs.
- No Fixed Site Assignment: Employees are not permanently based at a single site. Instead, they are deployed to different locations within a predefined group of sites as needed.
- You may be required to work at different sites within your contracted hours to address clinical requirements.
- Expectations from Employees: Flexibility to adapt to different sites, workflows, and team dynamics. Capability to quickly integrate into new environments while maintaining productivity.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive reviews of residents through clinical assessments
- Safely administer medication to residents
- Falls management and prevention
- Complete documentation for residents ensuring accurate care planning and relevant supporting documents
- Supervise the delivery of care plans on a daily basis
- Providing ongoing coaching, mentoring to the care staff
- Comply with Occupational Health and Safety in accordance with Aged Care Standards and Risk Management
Essential Criteria:
- Current AHPRA Registration
- Evidence of COVID-19 and Current Flu vaccinations per Amana Living policies
- Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance (within 6-months validity)
- NDIS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
- Successful completion of pre-employment medical and reference checks
- Knowledge of the resident classification scale, accreditation and continuous improvement
- Willingness to attend 3 days paid induction at our Rivervale Training Institute

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the care team in the delivery of care and services, ensuring a consistent high standard.

Requirements for the Role
Current Nursing (Div1) AHPRA registration
Understanding of quality care and customer service to residents and their families
Have undertaken or willingness to undertake COVID -19 Infection Control & PPE Training, Hand Hygiene training and Food Safety Training
Computer literacy and a willingness to learn new technology
Understanding of ACFI/ AN-ACC and Aged Care Standards requirements
Excellent communication and leadership skills to successfully lead a team.
Current influenza vaccination and full COVID vaccination essential
