The Position

The Engineering Manager – Power Systems is a strategic leadership role focused on high voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) infrastructure projects. These span transmission lines, substations, and power systems across the utility, industrial, and renewable sectors. This role blends technical excellence with team leadership, delivering constructible, cost effective, and sustainable designs that meet project scope, budget, and schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee compliance with Design Controls and Engineering Management Systems, including Safety in Design
- Manage the full design lifecycle of complex systems, from concept through integration and validation
- Resolve design conflicts and ensure systems meet performance, reliability, and regulatory standards
- Lead the development of innovative and sustainable designs aligned with client and industry expectations
- Apply RAM principles to enhance system maintainability, availability, and reliability
- Conduct and review proof engineering and independent checking
- Identify and implement innovative solutions to optimise designs, improve constructability, and enhance operational performance,
- Evaluate and integrates advanced tools, software, and techniques to enhance project outcomes and efficiency,
- Evaluate ongoing projects, products and processes to identify and diagnose performance deficiencies, impending or actual failures, and propose remedies and solutions,
Required Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Chartered Status (including RPEV, RPEQ, NER & CPEng), or the ability to achieve within months of commencing, is desirable
- Extensive experience (10+ years) leading engineering teams in HV/MV systems and infrastructure (including 220kV or higher)
- Ideally, 5+ years of fieldwork, supporting hands-on engineering and site collaboration
- Knowledge of constructability, systems integration, and technical governance
- Experience with standards like IEC, IEEE, AS/NZS and a strong safety-first mindset
- Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor and/or TNSP experience is highly regarded

About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for performing safe, timely, and cost-effective repair and maintenance on our diverse fleet of vehicles, including diesel, electrical, and air-conditioning systems. You will work closely with the Workshop Manager and Senior Trades personnel to optimise the operational efficiency of our vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
Repair & Maintenance (Approx. 80% Time Allocation)
- General Maintenance:
- Perform routine A, B, and C servicing on all vehicle types.
- Conduct Road Safety Inspections to ensure vehicle compliance ahead of HVAIS inspections.
- Diagnose and resolve faults across mechanical, electrical, and air-conditioning systems.
- Lead breakdown repairs and vehicle recoveries to minimize downtime.
- Conduct daily fleet checks to assess vehicle condition and identify potential maintenance needs.

- Demonstrate and reinforce safe work practices, ensuring apprentices comply with workplace health and safety policies.
- Regularly review apprentice progress and provide feedback to the Workshop Manager.
Skills & Experience Required
Qualifications:
- Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical or equivalent.
- Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent.
- Certificate II in Automotive Air Conditioning Technology or equivalent.
- Valid Heavy Rigid Western Australian driver’s license.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years' relevant experience in diesel fitting, auto-electrical, or vehicle air-conditioning systems.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong mentoring and interpersonal skills.
- Intermediate data entry skills and computer literacy.
