Position Overview:

As a Civil Engineer Draftsperson, you will be instrumental in designing and developing plans for a wide range of civil engineering works, including drainage systems, water supply networks, roads, bridges, and more. This role combines technical drafting skills with hands-on fieldwork and data analysis to ensure successful project execution



Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Design and Drafting: Prepare accurate sketches, plans, and designs for civil engineering projects, ensuring clarity and compliance with engineering standards.

• Fieldwork and Testing: Conduct and oversee fieldwork and laboratory testing to gather essential data for project development, including soil and material analysis.

• Instruction Interpretation: Understand and interpret work assignment instructions, applying appropriate engineering procedures and selecting suitable tools and equipment for tasks.

• Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyze data pertinent to project specifications, performing necessary calculations to support design and construction processes.

• Cost Estimation: Estimate material costs and resource needs for projects, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints and contract provisions.

• Quality Assurance: Inspect civil engineering works throughout various stages of construction, ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.

• Maintenance Oversight: Organize and supervise maintenance and repair activities for existing structures, ensuring their safety and functionality.

• Traffic Surveys: Conduct field surveys and traffic data collection to support planning and design efforts in transportation projects.



Qualifications:

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or related field.



Skills and Other Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in civil engineering projects

• Proficiency in drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD).

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Senior Civil Engineer
We support water customers across Australia to provide our communities with the best drinking water and wastewater treatment services, whilst innovating ways to safeguard and secure our country's water supplies, elevating public spaces and enhancing livability.
Our team is expanding and due to some significant wins, we are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with municipal water pipelines, sewer design, trunk main and water reticulation system experience.
You'll be a key member of KBR's Water team who, in a joint venture with John Holland has been delivering Melbourne Water's complex infrastructure projects through major design and construction framework, that will see us supporting Melbourne Water for well over a decade of continuous service.
In addition, the team are delivering major capital projects to South East Water's record $1.5 billion investment as part of a new industry partnership between Abergeldie, BMD & KBR (ABK). The 10-year contract will see ABK plan and deliver major infrastructure upgrades in partnership with South East Water as part of a new integrated capital works planning and delivery model.

Who are you?
You are a design focused Senior Civil Engineer experienced in detailed design, running projects, customer interaction and mentoring juniors.
You will be motivated by achievement, outcome-focused and present professionally to peers, clients, and stakeholders. You will have previous experience designing major projects across water pipelines from 250mm-1000mm diameter, understand or have experience in sewer design, trunk mains and pump stations through various stages of the design lifecycle.
You possess a pragmatic approach to the development of constructable design solutions and have proven commercial acumen in the delivery of water infrastructure.
You will have the following skills and experience:
+ You are a Chartered Engineer (CEng) having delivered various complex detailed design projects
+ You have demonstrated experience in the water infrastructure sector in a consulting environment.
+ Proven ability to work in, and lead, engineering, planning and design modelling teams, work directly with water authority clients, and manage projects to scope, budget and program.

This opportunity presents the chance for an experienced Civil Engineer to work on a wide variety of regionally significant transport and general civil planning and design projects, establishing and building existing client relationships, and leading people. + Work closely with a range of engineers across Australia, delivering key transport design services on a variety of transport infrastructure projects.

**Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ Within the Site Reliability Engineering team, you will be working with various development team, and other partners teams to ensure that applications reliability, efficiency, and performance meet our customer's needs, while keeping the service's operation's reliable, scalable, and automated.
+ Develop tools and automation to streamline operations and improve system reliability, efficiency, and performance.
+ Partner with development teams on feature launches to ensure our customers are delivered reliable and scalable functionality.
+ Build a deep knowledge on production infrastructure and use that to debug distributed systems problems and identify improvements to the system.
+ Operations, SLO, SLA management
+ Metrics reporting and progress tracking.
+ Manage infrastructure costs and optimize resource utilization.
+ Work with security teams to ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.
+ Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for our systems.
+ Observability (Alarms, monitoring, synthetics).
