**The Ideal Candidate will have: **
+ A-Class Current Australian Electrical trade qualification.
+ Experience as a Service/Field/Electrical technician with demonstrated experience in servicing and maintenance of technical equipment for commercial business.
+ Experience with Fire/Security/Controls
+ Contractors Endorsement an advantage but not essential
+ Problem-solver and ability to diagnose issues in a disciplined and methodical manner.
+ Ability to understand control strategies and systems in order to make assessment and recommendations for enhancements and efficiencies.

**THE ROLE**
The Maintenance Electrician functions as key member of a multi-skilled team to safely and effectively maintain facility infrastructure and critical systems at OASIS. The Maintenance Electrician provides a professional service in the execution of technical repair & maintenance of all assigned facility infrastructure equipment. This includes elements of planning, organization, coordination, scheduling, training, mentoring, and resource management associated with the day-to-day maintenance of the facility.
The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for the efficient and timely identification and completion of maintenance work tasks and ensuring high levels of service are maintained. This role also ensures that the Maintenance Electrician completes repairs and maintenance of all equipment in a manner that maximizes productivity and equipment reliability.
The Maintenance Electrician is a member of a small team of experienced tradespeople responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of multiple system components and equipment that supports both mission and routine business operations, as well as responding to unscheduled repairs. Within this team, the Maintenance Electrician must contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, supporting the implementation of improvement initiatives and technical advance as well as having the ability to think on their feet and complete assigned tasks to a high standard.
This position works closely with the Facilities Operations Team, other Facilities Maintainers and OASIS departments to foster, promote and maintain best-practice standards and enable reliable, consistent and effective maintenance and operation of facility systems. This role is key to the success of the broader O&M team and thus also works closely with all Facilities O&M personnel in the delivery of high-quality facility O&M services.
**ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Operate and maintain facility infrastructure, systems and equipment.
+ Effect the day-to-day operation and maintenance of allocated facility infrastructure, equipment and systems.
+ Execute rapid and reliable response to abnormal facility operational situations and emergencies, including equipment repair when necessary.
+ Effectively liaise and communicate with peers to ensure best-practice standardization, coverage and continuous individual and team improvement.
+ Monitor and facilitate the update of technical drawings, panel schedules and equipment operating procedures.
+ Maintain a complete and current working understanding of all relevant facilities infrastructure, equipment and systems.
+ Install new electrical equipment and infrastructure as requested.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Essential**
+ Australian candidates must hold and be able to maintain an Australian "A" Grade Electrical License,

Commencing in December 2025 / January 2026 (negotiable), this role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to learn a skilled maintenance trade and to work with a unique range of equipment in our modern food production facilities at both our Ulverstone and Devonport manufacturing plants. Upon successful completion of this 4 year apprenticeship, the Apprentice will obtain a nationally recognised qualification (Cert III Electrotechnology).
Simplot's Tasmanian production facilities have a long history within their communities, with both plants dating back to the early 1940s. Our Ulverstone plant processes around 300,000 tonnes of potatoes from 165 Tasmanian growers each year and employs over 450 people, whilst our Devonport plant has capacity to process 28 tonnes of product per hour, equating to over 80 million individual bags of frozen vegetables per annum.
Working a rotation across both sites will give our apprentices the leading edge in developing a diverse skill set in the industrial electrical industry. With base rates of up to 50% higher than the applicable award, and Simplot providing the successful candidate with a tool kit as a gesture of welcome - we ensure our apprentices are set up for success from day one!
**What You Will Do**
Joining our highly skilled Maintenance Electrical teams on a Monday-Friday day shift roster - this apprenticeship will focus on all facets of the electrotechnology trade within a busy manufacturing (FMCG) environment. Duties will include (but are not limited to):
+ Take part in safety initiatives to achieve a 100% commitment to safety, health and wellbeing in the workplace
+ Learn industry best practice for both preventative maintenance & breakdown of electrical equipment and systems (incl. pumps / motors / freezer tunnels / SCADA systems, high speed packaging equipment, fryers, process line fixed plant)
+ Problem solving & fault finding
+ Use of CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems) incl. work orders / data entry / stores lookups
+ Use of hand tools and other industry specific tooling
+ Process automation and instrumentation
+ Interact & collaborate with wider Maintenance / Engineering & Production teams on tasks associated with production line maintenance
+ Attend mandatory blocks of TAFE for the duration of the apprenticeship
+ Complete a rotational programme at both Simplot Ulverstone and Devonport
+ Contribute towards continuous improvement initiatives
**About You**
+ Ideally you will have successfully completed, or are due to complete school based electrotechnology units (e.g. Cert II - Electrotechnology) in addition to have undertaken work experience / placements within an electrical environment
+ Possess a genuine interest in learning the electrical trade
+ Basic knowledge of electrical industry terminology
+ Demonstrated problem solving skills with a hands-on approach
+ Possess strong mathematical and English attributes - noting an in-house aptitude test will be required for shortlisted candidates
+ Intermediate IT skills with regards to Windows based operating system
+ Be an Australian Citizen or possess formal permanent residency
+ Ability to commence full-time employment in December 2025 / January 2026 (negotiable)
+ Possess a driver's licence (or hold your Learners Permit with a look to obtaining P plates in the near future)
+ Demonstrate superior communication skills with the ability to interact with a wide variety of people and cultures
+ Ability to commit to a 4 year apprenticeship
+ Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screen)

Reporting to the Electrical Team Lead, the Maintenance Electrican will provide industrial electrical services during monthly scheduled maintenance days, and day work coverage (as required).

**What You Will Do**
The Maintenance Electrician will perform planned, scheduled and breakdown electrical activities on a wide range of fixed plant and equipment in alignment with the site's Maintenance & Production schedules that support optimisation of plant reliability, improvements related to employee safety, and site continuous improvement (CI) activities.
Monthly maintenance day hours 0700 - 1730hrs, with day shift coverage hours 0700 - 1500hrs.
Working closely with the wider Maintenance teams in addition to the Production team - this hands on, technical role will provide electrical expertise to Simplot Ulverstone's operations by;
+ Identifying faults and performing breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and micro-stops caused by production machinery and equipment
+ Inspecting, testing and maintaining machinery & equipment in production areas + wider plant buildings & facilities
+ Working with PLC, SCADA - noting that Simplot utilise CITECT, and electronically controlled system diagnostics, fault finding, programming and connections
+ Performing general plant and building maintenance work
+ Performing assigned tasks in accordance with all Simplot Safety, Health & Wellbeing + Environmental policies & procedures
+ Utilising MEX CMMS to update work orders, search asset history and advise on any maintenance trends or opportunity for improvement and innovation
+ Contribute towards site CI activities
**About You**
+ Possess a 100% commitment to safety, health & wellbeing in the workplace
+ Hold a Cert III Electrotechnology + Tasmanian Electrical Licence (mandatory)
+ Qualifications in Instrumentation & Controls would be advantageous but not essential
